PROBLEM RESOLUTION
PROCEDURE SUMMARY
The Problem Resolution Procedure (PRP) is a sequence
of energy healing maneuvers to optimize the likelihood of resolving
the emotional attachment to an identified target
related to a recent event. Components include identifying a recent
target, addressing accessible resistance to resolving the problem
that the client can become consciously aware through dialogue.
The client attunes
to the problem (i.e. develops a thought
field) and uses emotion to float back to an earlier even that
may be holding the frame for vulnerability of the more recent target
event. The earlier event becomes the new target event. An emotional
disturbance level (scale 0 to 10) is assessed.
A short simple phrase is developed to support the
client's maintaining a new thought field for the new target. Rather
than muscle test for a psychological
reversal, one is assumed to exist and is treated with tapping
on a common treatment point (acupoint).
The clinician and client repeat the reminder phrase
while the client taps, rubs or
touches acupoints on all or nearly all of the major meridians*.
Balancing procedures can be used if/when the resolution process
slows down. Subjective disturbance levels are requested periodically.
When the disturbance is 0-1, an eye roll procedure
is applied to anchor the process.
The client picks a new behavior in the future that
will suggest success for the PRP. The degree to which the client
is confident that the test behavior will be a success is assessed
(0-10). The client focuses on the projected behavior and taps on
a selected acupoint until the confidence level is increased, preferably
to full confidence that the new behavior will be exhibited in the
test condition.
The eye roll procedure is applied to anchor the future
projection.
The next session, the clinician checks the level of
emotional distress (SUD) and the degree of success that the client
had in the selected test behavior.
*This treatment
phase is derived from Gary Craig's Emotional
Freedom Techniques.
PRP
Components
| IDENTIFY
TARGET |
Discuss
the issue with the client. |
| ADDRESS
RESISTANCE |
Ask
the client if there is any reason to maintain the disturbance.
If there is, address this issue first. |
| ATTUNE |
Client
attunes to problem and assesses emotion and disturbance level
(SUD). |
| FLOATBACK |
Separate
the troubling emotions from the event and float it back in time. |
| DEVELOP
REMINDER PHRASE |
Pick
a phrase that will allow maintenance of the thought field. |
| CORRECT
ASSUMED REVERSAL |
Tap,
touch or rub one of several acupoints while repeating the affirmation. |
| TREAT
(BALANCE) |
Tap
acupoints in any order. Add balancing procedure as needed |
| BALANCING
PROCEDURE |
Any
number of procedures can be chosen, Callahan's Nine Gamut is
popular |
| EVALUATE
PROGRESS |
After
a round or two, check for level of disturbance |
| CHECK
FOR TARGET SHIFT |
If SUD
is not decreasing, it may be due the thought field shifting
from the target problem to a related problem |
| CORRECT
MINI-REVERSAL |
If progress
halts, treat the assumed psychological reversal |
