Clinical Practive of Energy
Psychotherapy
Summary of Program
Over the past fifteen years there has been a proliferation of psychotherapy
methods and techniques that appear to be especially effective in treating
emotional disturbance and the effects of trauma. Workshop participants
will learn how to apply energy psychology methods including energy balancing
procedures, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Tapas Acupressure Technique
(TAT) and other methods that can be extended to clinical practice. These
methods will be compared and contrasted to several other psychotherapy
methods including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR),
Thought Field Therapy (TFT), Energy Diagnostic and Treatment Methods
(EDxTM) and other techniques. All of these treatment methods have in
common 1) focusing on (attuning to) a problem or issue and 2) applying
a prescribed set of procedures to resolve the disturbance or imbalance.
For example, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation with eye movement, sound
or tapping, and energy psychology employs tapping, touching, rubbing,
or holding certain treatment points.
What You Will Learn
About
· The history of energy psychology methods
· Similarities and differences among methods
· Muscle testing of self and others as derived from applied kinesiology
· How to apply at least two energy therapy methods into clinical practice
Target Audience
All interested health and human services professionals
This informative and
interactive workshop is typically presented in a two day-long
format, but can be customized to meet your specific needs.

Energy
Diagnostic and Treatment Methods - Level I & II
Summary of Program
EDxTM is a powerful therapeutic tool that can be used alone or in concert
with other psychotherapeutic and behavioral approaches. This two-day
workshop gives mental health and healthcare practitioners a solid basis
in the fundamentals of this advanced and sophisticated energy diagnostic
and treatment system.
EDxTM incorporates
aspects of Applied Kinesiology, Meridian Therapy and Cognitive
Therapy to address a wide array of psychological problems.
EDxTM provides a unique blend of Manual Muscle Testing to assist
the therapist in tailoring verbal and patient-administered
tactile treatments. EDxTM has been used to alleviate a wide
variety of problems including anxiety and trauma based issues,
depressive symptoms, behavior disturbances, physical pain,
and other disturbances. Embedded in the empirically supported
assumption that a bodily energy system operates at the very
essence of physical and psychological health, EDxTM provides
a means of easily pinpointing bioenergy disturbances.
What You Will Learn
About
· The history of energy psychology and EDxTM
· Muscle testing of self and others as derived from applied kinesiology
· How to assess and treat neurological disorganization and psychological reversal
· How to assess Chinese meridian alarm and treatment points and apply treatments
· How to apply the basic single-point EDxTM protocol in clinical practice
Target Audience
Mental health professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists, substance
abuse counselors, social workers, bodyworkers, physical therapists, massage
therapists and other interested healthcare professionals.
This workshop is the
first of four weekends for the EDxTM Practitioner Certification
Program. Fred
Gallo, Ph.D., who developed this approach teaches Levels
II - IV in other cities including Chapel Hill.
This informative and
interactive workshop is typically presented in a two day-long
format, but can be customized to meet your specific needs.

Introduction
to Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
Summary of Program
This introduction gives an overview of the basic protocol of Eye Movement
Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a newly developed treatment
method of Accelerated Information Processing that is gaining recognition
as an effective therapeutic tool to treat people suffering with the effects
of traumatic experiences. For the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder,
EMDR has more published controlled studies than any other psychotherapeutic
method. EMDR can be used to help people with numerous problems including
anxiety, phobia, as well as the effects of emotional, physical and sexual
trauma. The program plans a short discussion of current research, a description
of the setup and EMDR process as it occurs in the clinical setting, videotaped
material and an experiential exercise. Specific issues for the inpatient
setting will be addressed.
This introductory workshop does not prepare participants to use EMDR in therapy.
It helps the clinician decide when EMDR might be applied and whether therapist
training in EMDR would be helpful in his or her clinical practice. The program
includes a videotaped vignette and an experiential exercise.
Target Audience
General public and all interested health and human services professionals
This presentation is typically presented in a 1½ to two hour format.

Dissociative
Disorders Psychotherapy Training Program
This
training program is designed to give licensed mental health
professionals the skills to effectively assess chronically
traumatized clients for dissociative disorders and to treat
them effectively. The program was designed from a university
teaching program. It has been adopted by and is offered through
the International Society for the Study of Dissociation (ISSD).
It provides a framework to aid the clinician to understand
concepts of trauma and dissociation, differential diagnosis,
and establishing a treatment plan for those with dissociative
disorders.
The 300+ page course
training manual includes an extensive array of outstanding
journal articles. Participants are expected to be personally
treating one or more clients with dissociative identity disorder
or dissociative disorder NOS. Participants present case material
and are encouraged to bring session audiotapes or videotapes
for discussion. Journal articles in the training manuals are
discussed. Videotapes of clinical interviews with dissociative
patients are shown.

as well as "autonomous self-state"-specific treatment interventions;
2) transgenerational issues including assessment and therapeutic approaches
with families; 3) out of home interventions, 4) psychopharmacologic interventions
and 5) forensic elements. Videotaped interviews demonstrate clinical processes.
Program objectives
